I think the question is deceiving. First of all no “immigrants” were there…..”illegal immigrants” were, a distinction conveniently ignored in order to beautify illegals while demonizing law enforcement officers. Secondly, while there were indeed outdoor pens, they were not the permanent residency for prisoners, but rather temporary holding areas to be used to hold someone for a period of a few hours. To those who would still consider this cruel and unusual punishment, I would have to ask where were you during Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s tenure in Maricopa County, Arizona? He kept county prisoners in outdoor open walled tents for years under both republican and democratic administrations and was never shut down. It seems like this is more about getting Trump again than morality. Remember the ICE “Trump Cages” that illegal immigrant kids were likewise forced to endure? That story died very quickly when it was disclosed that the cages were actually from Obama’s tenure.

Science assumes that our human senses are adequate for detecting all that there is to detect in the universe around us, an entirely unprovable belief. I personally have no problem believing there are things happening around us all the time that our limited senses simply aren’t designed to detect. Also, I grew up in a very old part of the world where anyone who didn’t believe in ghosts was considered nuts, since there was always a place nearby you could go to and get firsthand experiences with them……and almost always get “more then you bargained for”

I’m afraid I have to disagree with just about everything I’ve read in the comments, with the caveat that there can be absolutely no doubt as to the persons guilt. My main reason is that, at best, this perspective ignores the value of the victim while valuing the perp. Even worse, with talk of redeeming the perp, we reduce the victim to the level of a stage prop to be used and discarded in the murderer’s process of “redemption” that we assume they actually want. It seems society’s message should be that life is so precious that a taker of it is immediately dealt with severely and permanently.

I don’t think it can be both without undermining the value of the victim’s life

If we didn’t attack them they would very soon have been able to back up their words with actions, so I think the US’s actions are appropriate

Yep, I think much of the time Trump fails to explain the important details, or capitalize on the opportunity ongoing developments in the operations against Iran give him to coherently give us perspective on the situation

I live in a very pro-Trump area. In the 2020 presidential, wouldn’t you know it, they gave us the wrong kind of pen to fill out the ballot with, but no worries…they had a way to fix it. That way involved disqualifying all our votes, and it seems it occurred in all the “Trump” areas of town. In the 2022 midterms, wouldn’t you know it, the print on the ballots was for a 19 inch wide ballot whereas the ballot itself was 20 inches wide, again this only happened in “certain” locations. I’m not sure which party I hate more: the one that is openly honest with their treasonous anti-America stance or the one that’s almost as bad but pretends to be patriotic, but I do know that it wasn’t the Republicans that cheated here in Phoenix.

They are utterly ruined yet trying to bluff their way still. They have no Air Force, no major naval ships, no effective command/control, and they don’t appear to even have their drone capability anymore. As for their mining of the Hormuz straight: the US Navy has removed a total of 200 mines from the strait….of those 200, only 11 were actual mines….the others were garbage bags inflated with air.. Now there’s no money to pay the army and protests are starting up again…..they’re 1945 Nazi Germany without a Marshall Plan.

Tariffs have been a one way street for decades with Canada and now the US is the bad guy for hitting them back? They sell their Bombardier biz jets here but won’t certify US Gulfstream planes to be sold in Canada? They have tariffs in the range of 100 to 400% on US agricultural products and metals and get in a tiff when we counter? And this time around they leave the negotiating table because the US will no longer let them screw us by helping China get around US metal tariffs by becoming a transshipment point and relabeling the Chinese metal as Canadian and selling it to us? I grew up in Detroit and spent many a weekend night over in Windsor, Ontario…..I found that Canadians have the worst “ugly sister” complex the world has ever seen…..they can’t stand the US because it’s better, they need it, but they’ll never admit it. Just look at how they react to Trump messing with them with the Lake America & Alberta 51st state:yelling and stomping like a 5 year old whose mommy said “no”.

All for nuclear power, but they put in an AI data center near us without any public opportunities to have a say. Now we have water problems and the plumbing sounds like somebody’s dragging a badger over a cheese grater. Good thing water isn’t an issue here in the middle of the desert where the temperature drops to 95 at night!

I think its completely stupid and frigging love how easy it is for Trump to drive Canadians bat $hit crazy…..they’ll be soiling themselves for another month before one of them figures out they can do the same thing to Lake Huron
