I read something recently (may've just been his Wikipedia article) suggesting the whole O.J. History shows that flipping democracy the bird doesn't prevent politicization (look no further than the SCOTUS), and that's only the beginning of what's wrong with it. I did acknowledge that the specific "alternative" being mentioned here seemed unlikely to deliver improvement, my point was only that the Fed doesn't deserve defending. With respectful apologies to The Broad-Brimmed Wanderer, the enemy of my enemy is not necessarily my friend.

This one is new to me.

I think the deciding factor would reside in how those things are manufactured. "Let's look at Picture-Picture...!"

The deeper question is, WHY is that their job? Whatever happened to the lemonade-stand model of "do a good job, and money will be your reward IF you EARN it in the eyes of customers"?

Abhorrent waste of energy? The general crappiness of the "technology"? The demonstrable harm it's already doing to developing brains? Tough choice, but off the top of my head I am inclined to say Jim Carrey's "The Mask". Good rivals for the title would include "Beetlejuice" and "The Naked Gun".

Surely you jest. Corporate Media works for THEM, not for US. The "4th Estate" ideal you describe hasn't been remotely true since Cronkite had the gall to tell the truth about Vietnam, and the fates of Manning/Snowden/Assange makes the message crystal-clear. If only he hadn't banned them on obvious partisan lines rather than kicking out ALL the Wall Street/Pentagon/Davos cheerleader-squads, I'd have been tempted to call this a good thing (wouldn't change much by itself, but an enjoyable nose-punch to those who deserve it).

Age is not the problem; health is. Not everyone ages equally. Bernie Sanders is way the hell older than John Fetterman, but guess whose brain seems to be in better condition?

We should aspire for all Americans to be conversant in, at minimum, English, German, and Spanish. Monolingualism personally debilitates us and is not even the global norm. I realize that's not exactly the question being asked here, but why should we even need an "official" language?

Who says those lobbyists and apparatchiks shouldn't be yoked with term-limits too? At least with term-limits, A) Said apparatchiks will become harder to overlook B) There will be more circulation, more people who can say they've been in Congress C) It will corrode the 'Congress community', which is actually a huge problem because the great irony we face is that our government has effectively seceded from the country! They care more about each other than their constituencies.

If the businessman in question were British, Israeli, German, Indian, Saudi, or Argentine, hardly anyone would say a word; how is this different? "RussiaGate" was debunked years ago, knock it off.

It sounds great (just like it's supposed to), but in practice, "foreign aid" has mostly amounted to colonial subversion efforts that exploits domestic liberal charity to achieve the opposite. The problem with saying "the government should do more" is, well...just look at our government. Reagan's "government IS the problem" line may have been a feint to flush out opposition to the corporate takeover at the time he said it, but now that that's happened, you might say it was a self-fulfilling prophecy. This question relies on all the wrong divisions.

The more specific things the voting public has direct control over, the more democratic (or at least democratic-republican) we can say we are.
