Should the U.S. government replace the term 'artificial intelligence' with 'Super Intelligence' (SI)?

At a White House meeting with tech executives on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, President Trump signed an executive order directing federal agencies to use the term 'Super Intelligence (SI)' instead of 'artificial intelligence.'

It's an even bigger departure from the reality, which is that LLMs are not "artificial intelligence" AT ALL, and never will be. I don't know, if this move nudges more people to be more skeptical of the damned stuff, we can call that a plus! Talk about rearranging the deck-chairs on The Titanic, though.

Super intelligence seems ambiguous. Artificial at least implies non-human, which is an important distinction. Also, SI conflicts with the term Artificial Super Intelligence, which has a generally accepted definition (AI surpassing human intelligence across virtually all domains)

It is as stupid as the Gulf of America.

if a name swap made the tech safer or scarier, this wouldn't even need a vote. so what's actually riding on calling it SI instead of AI?
