The "nuclear waste disposal problem" is vastly overblown. Climate change on the other hand...
Nuclear power is an important part of a non-emissive energy mix. The nuclear waste disposal problem remains, and that makes it less attractive. Nuclear fusion is creeping closer to commercial reality and that will certainly change the equation. Plus, think of all the balloons we can fill with the helium byproduct ;-)
Not necessarily the best, but a good one. Wind and solar are now cost-competitive, but they don’t provide the always-on power needed, and batteries can't yet fill the gap. Nuclear is safer and more flexible than it used to be, but I think it's held back by dated perceptions. That'll be a tough hill to climb, unfortunately.
