By some measures we already do (and hell, hardly just for "elderly loved ones"). I want to make clear my position: I'm a futurist at heart. I DO like the idea of Electric Grandmothers (H/T one of Ray Bradbury's few optimistic takes on technology) and such, I grew up looking up to the likes of Johnny-5, Data Soong, and whatever-the-hell that thing in "Flight of the Navigator" was - but THE CURRENT HYPE is just more enshittification. It is not the way ahead. We will never reach any kind of Tomorrowland so long as the Cult of Profit exists anywhere outside of prisons, asylums, and unmarked graves. Questions like this threaten to bake in horribly erroneous assumptions.
