While I agree with Scaramouche that China is unlikely to attack Taiwan militarily, it is not out of the question. Unification has been a Chinese demand since the dawn of the CCP. I would not recommend US involvement in defending Taiwan except for TSMC - Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company - two campuses on Taiwan that produce the vast majority of advanced semiconductors that power everything from our military to AI. If you think China has us by the testicles with rare earth materials, think about TSMC as a Chinese asset - or as rubble.
Agreed. Much more at stake, of course, but TSMC accounts for 90% of the world's advanced chip production. That would shift the balance on AI for sure.

They won't, and you shouldn't. They want to make Taiwan the next Ukraine. FORTUNATELY, the Chinese aren't as stupid as the Pentagon. Taiwan will NOT be attacked militarily. Let's put it this way: We are talking about an island that the POST-WWII AMERICAN MILITARY, an historical juggernaut at the height of all its powers and assets, considered attacking BUT WAS AFRAID TO. Behold the power of nightmare-geography. What's more, "huge cost" is an understatement. We'd be crushed. That juggernaut I just referred to is dead as a doornail thanks to a war-industry that now exists only for private profit.
