Yes. I would argue that some of the LLMs have a form of consciousness today. But if you mean consciousness that looks exactly like human consciousness then, no. Human consciousness is shaped by imperatives, hormones, and cultural pressures that are different than those that shape AI. That is not a consciousness problem it is an anthropocentrism problem.
