The US faces a serious demographic problem: a shrinking working age population and a growing retired population. Removing the childcare cost obstacle from keeping people out of the workplace is a reasonable use of public funds.

Quebec is a good case study here. Heavily subsidized child care raised employment among women with children by 7%. Agree that'll be important here in the US, though AI is a bit of a wild card.
