Should the U.S. restrict free Chinese AI models that can boost people's hacking skills?
On September 18, 2026, reporting highlighted that powerful Chinese-made AI models being given away for free carry potent cybersecurity capabilities, widening public access to high-level hacking knowledge that can be used for good or ill.
I'm not sure there's a good way to stop hackers from accessing them. Hackers hack. They'll find a way around any restrictions.
