Was the Federal Reserve right to raise interest rates?

On September 16, 2026, the Federal Reserve under Chair Kevin Warsh raised interest rates for the first time since 2023 to fight rising inflation; President Trump had urged a cut, and the White House called the move an 'unfortunate decision.'

This is a fraught time economically. The last thing we need is growing inflation. Had the Fed held - or worse decreased a quarter - the signal to the markets would be that the Fed is no longer independent.

Glad to see that Warsh is not a lap dog. There's hope.
