Lottery tickets are insanely cheap compared to the potential reward. Buying a single ticket immensely improves your chances of winning. Buying a second ticket has no real impact on your chances. I buy one occasionally as a sort of meditation. There is a potential for good things to happen in life. A minuscule chance but only if we are open to it.
Lottery tickets are a stupidity tax. Now I'm waiting for someone to respond, " but somebody has to win!" A. No, they don't, and B. When someone does it won't be you.
I do agree. It's a tax that comes with a bit of offsetting entertainment value. If people only bought for that, I'd be okay with it. Unfortunately, it's often people who can't really afford them who are buying them.
