I think our abilities to detect and prevent terrorist attacks is better, especially given the technology advances, but our policies recently are increasing animosity and weakening ties with our allies.
If you're picking "safer," where does that safety come from: no attack on that scale since, or just better locks on the doors that let 2001 happen?
