The largest issue in america right now is Trump and the Republican party enabling him. More than any president in my lifetime (LBJ - Trump) they have made this issue quite local
Agree 100%. While I'm disappointed we elected him, I'm more disappointed that so many are tolerating / enabling his more radical behaviors (talk of annexing Greenland, Canada as 51st state, "reciprocal" tariffs, Gulf of America / Lake America / New America, his crypto venture, Kennedy Center renaming, Trump merch galore, etc... it's a very long list and getting longer by the week).
Both are important, but we're most off course at the national level, so will focus more there.
If you're voting "national issues" in a midterm, where's your line — does your own city council or school board race even register, or is it all just a referendum on Congress?
It's not so much a referendum on congress itself as the idea that the party should act in all ways to enable the President to exert power via executive order at all levels down to and including directly against communities and individuals. Similar to the question of slavery until that point is decided it is really impossible to focus on much else
