When choosing a movie or show, do you trust critic reviews or audience ratings more?

A critic's review generally comes with a little essay explaining things about the movie. The fact that they know they must write this little essay means they're usually trying to notice more things the movie is doing

Ok, yes, but sometimes it is just about enjoying the movie… don’t overthink it! Critics didn’t like the life aquatic which I enjoyed (as did many others)

I'll give anything a go with a Rotten Tomatoes critics score over 90%. Audience scores suffer from self-selection bias.
