Seriously? No federal minimum standards? The future will be built by people with serious education and that education demands a solid foundation. Federal minimum standards should be the minimum. Federal sample curricula and teaching strategies should be available. But states should be free to choose their own approaches unless a state proves itself unable to produce students that meet the standards.
